Over the River and through the Woods

Piling into your car tomorrow on Thanksgiving to go visit family? The last few days the weather predictions have changed back and forth between snow, rain, and freezing slush for many areas near Northwest Arkansas. We can remember Thanksgivings in the past where we had to drive in not-so-great conditions to enjoy the holiday with friends and family. Driving a Subaru means that there’s little to hold you back from celebrating the holidays with…

Subaru Celebrate 10 Years Landfill Free

Many Subarus are American-made vehicles built in a Subaru plant in Indiana. Not only are they American made, they're also at the leading edge of green technology where manufacturing is concerned. The Indiana Subaru factory is a zero-landfill plant. Nothing from the entire building goes into the landfill and everything is used or recycled in the process of making Subarus—right down to the things used in the lunchroom.

It’s been ten years…

Crossover Challenge, Continued

In the final Crossover Challenge segment, the emergency driving trainers did what they do best—drive cars in dangerous situations. They set up a obstacle course that asked the crossovers to maneuver through a tight spot at high speeds.

The low center of gravity in Subaru models is what makes it the best choice in this situation, as well as the all-wheel drive system that we’ve already seen is so successful. The Subaru’s…

Crossover Challenge

The Subaru Forester was a hit with driving safety experts in real-world conditions. But what about a simulated hill climb in wet conditions? After all, real-world conditions can include surprises like sudden bad weather.

Fayetteville and the rest of the Ozarks are a pretty steep place. We’re not called the city on the hill just because we have one hill. Township can turn into a real nightmare when weather gets rough, both in snow…

Crash Avoidance Is a Subaru Priority

IIHS has completed studies on vehicles with crash avoidance systems, like Subaru's EyeSight system. Out of all the crash avoidance systems, Subaru performed the best and was the only system that stopped vehicles completely before a crash at 25 mph.

The test used a dummy car and test drivers drove the cars into the dummy car at 12 mph and 25 mph to see how the systems would respond. Many vehicles' systems failed even…

Car.com Recommends the Forester

When one car shopper wrote in to Cars.com to ask which car to buy, the editors recommended the 2014 Forester as the best choice. Why?    ·

  • All models have standard all-wheel drive
  • Fuel economy is 24/32 mpg city/highway
That packs a lot of punch in an affordable package, especially when the Forester comes with standard features that are expensive optional extras on other vehicles. When…
