IIHS has completed studies on vehicles with crash avoidance systems, like Subaru's EyeSight system. Out of all the crash avoidance systems, Subaru performed the best and was the only system that stopped vehicles completely before a crash at 25 mph.

The test used a dummy car and test drivers drove the cars into the dummy car at 12 mph and 25 mph to see how the systems would respond. Many vehicles' systems failed even the basic test of speed reduction in a crash and hit the dummy at full speed. You can check the results of the study on the IIHS website. Watch this video to see the test in action, including one Subaru showing off just how well the EyeSight system works in the event of a potential crash.

EyeSight is currently available on the Legacy, Outback, and Forrester models. IIHS only tested the Subaru Legacy and Subaru Outback with the EyeSight system and did not include the Forester in the tests. However, it's clear that the EyeSight system is the most successful and best option if you're shopping for a new car with a crash avoidance system.

Crash avoidance systems are a valuable innovation in auto safety. It only takes a second for a car crash to happen and you might not have the time to react. Using technology like the EyeSight can save lives.

When you buy a Subaru, you're telling all car manufacturers that crash avoidance systems that actually work are important to you as a consumer. Eventually, we see crash avoidance systems as a standard feature on cars of the future. And we're proud to say that Subaru is leading the way.
