The Subaru Forester was a hit with driving safety experts in real-world conditions. But what about a simulated hill climb in wet conditions? After all, real-world conditions can include surprises like sudden bad weather.
Fayetteville and the rest of the Ozarks are a pretty steep
place. We’re not called the city on the hill just because we have one hill.
Township can turn into a real nightmare when weather gets rough, both in snow
and rain. Add slick conditions and you’ll see some cars that just can’t make it
up our hills and plenty of trucks on the side of the road that tried but just
couldn’t make it.
You won’t see a Subaru struggling.
Subarus are made with smarter all-wheel drive systems that
engineers spent a lot of time on, testing and trying out different conditions
to get it just right. They discovered the perfect combination of tire power and
rotation to get their cars up slick hill conditions without problems, just like
you can see in this video.
The wheels respond very differently to the conditions,
alternating power between the front and back wheels and spinning at different
rates during the climb. This is what divides Subaru from the rest.
If you watch the other crossovers, their systems don’t apply power correctly to
get up the hill.
Living in Northwest Arkansas means driving up hills in all
kinds of weather. If you’re on one side of town at work and the kids are at
school on the other, you’ll have to climb quite a few hills to get to them if the weather takes a turn for the worse.
If you want to see how all of our Subarus work in the rain,
come in on a day when it’s pouring outside and we’ll be happy to test it out
with you on Fayetteville’s hills. After all, the results speak for
themselves.
