Police and emergency crews have a tough job—they have to drive in any sort of weather and often have to use evasive and defensive maneuvers during their jobs. They're trained by specialists who know the ins and outs of making cars do what is needed in a safe manner. As you can imagine, these specialists are very savvy about cars and driving. So Subaru decided to put a bunch of these specialists into a number of popular crossovers for a series of independent tests. The first test focused on the all-wheel drive system. Watch the video below to find out what the experts thought about the cars:

The hands-down winner was the Subaru Forester. “The handling by far was the best on this one,” said one expert, after driving the Subaru Forester on asphalt. “All wheels were connecting.” The more contact the tires have with the road and the less body roll, the safer the car. If you had to take evasive actions to steer clear of a deer in the road, body roll could leave you upside down.

Tires also need to have a great grip to give you the traction needed to turn on a dime. “It’s incredible,” said another expert about the Subaru Forester’s XMode that allows for a controlled descent down steep hills with rough terrain. While you might think you don’t need that—think again. Do you like to go to the Buffalo River with your family and drive on dirt roads to access camping and hiking areas, often in a valley? What about driving up and down hills in Northwest Arkansas in the rain and snow? XMode makes it possible to do those things safely.

The Subaru was the only car that could make it through the snow. “This was the ultimate test. There’s one standout favorite.” And that’s the Subaru Forester. It’s the “right equipment” that allows you to get where you need to go without worrying about road conditions. Do you need any more reason to choose a Subaru?
