Why Subarus Can Go Anywhere

Subaru is known for making vehicles that can handle everything from snow-covered roads to steep gravel inclines. Sure, Subaru is also known for things like building cars that will keep families safe, and working towards environmental conservation, but if you were to take a poll asking people, "What is Subaru’s most iconic quality?" off-road capabilities would probably be at the top of the list.

Subaru has earned this reputation largely due to the Symmetrical…

Sports Car vs. Sporty Car

560 × 373

Sports cars are fast, but speed alone isn't enough to define a sports car. Take the Subaru WRX for example. The WRX is fast and powerful like a sports car should be, but it is far more capable and versatile than your average sports car. Yes, the WRX can burn rubber with the best of them, but it also has characteristics that would remove it from the sports car category.

It might be more…

Crash Testing and Pet Safety

Subaru is known for making safe vehicles, and there's a good reason for that. It's not just talk. Subaru has earned Top Safety Pick ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway safety on every vehicle in its lineup for the last six years. No other manufacturer can make that claim.

But Subaru is also known as the vehicle of choice for pet owners. Just think about the number of happy dogs you’ve seen sticking their snouts out the window, or enthusiastically leaping into the back of a Subaru. According to Subaru's director of corporate communications, Michael…

The AAAS/Subaru Prize for Excellence in Science Books

Since 2005, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (or AAAS) and Subaru have teamed up to acknowledge great science writing and illustrations for children and young adults. The prizes from the inaugural were awarded to authors and illustrators from previous decades, but since 2006, the awards go to newly published science books.

The AAAS is a non-profit that is focused on science education and outreach. In addition to promoting scientific education, the organization…

2016 Subaru WRX & WRX STI

The ever-popular WRX and WRX STI are renowned for performance. A quick Youtube search will result in countless videos of these Subarus beating cars off the line, or clocking rally records, or pulling other vehicles out of snow banks. The new 2016 models certainly carry on the tradition of performance, but there’s also more of an emphasis on technology.

One common criticism of the WRX and STI is that while they can keep pace with higher-end sports cars at a fraction of the price, they lack the technology of those high-end cars. That's something that Subaru is looking…

Subaru Wants a New Seven-Seater

If you step out onto the lot at a Subaru dealership, most of the vehicles you will see are designed for five passengers. There might be one or two lingering Tribecas, but for the most part, Subaru doesn't offer a vehicle that can fit seven passengers. However, the company is looking to change that.

Many big families want, or need, a big vehicle. At a certain point, small cars can be too uncomfortable, or dangerous, for larger families, so they look to minivans and large SUVs that can accommodate more people. Subaru wants to design a new vehicle that…

Subaru Legacy’s Zero Death Rate

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recorded that the Subaru Legacy has a zero death rate. The study looked at the number of deaths per million registered vehicles. The Legacy is one of only 9 vehicles to have death rates of zero, and one of only two mid-size sedans to make it onto that list. The other vehicles on the list are SUVs or Minivans.  There's no doubt that the Legacy is a safe vehicle; however, this IIHS study isn’t the best way to show that. The IIHS looked at multi-vehicl

Subaru Forester Retains Resale Value

Subaru vehicles are known for having high resale value. When you consider that a Subaru will keep running until the wheels fall off, and that Subaru owners are known for the TLC they show their vehicles, it would be surprising if Subaru vehicles didn't have high resale value.

According to a study conducted by Edmunds, a new car loses about 11% of its value once you drive off the lot, 15-25% each year for the first five years, and after 5 years, your vehicle is worth 37% of what it was worth when you bought it off the lot…
