What's New for 2025?
The new Subaru Forester has been remodeled from the ground up and now has a more modern SUV body. The update also brought with it a new chassis, a new electric power steering rack, and a new foot-activated hands-free power tailgate. However, despite these changes, the Forester still retains the same powertrain and the model's standard all-wheel drive.

Performance
Subaru has decided not to replace the Forester powertrain but has instead opted to refine it. This means that while a 2.5-liter flat-four cylinder with its continuously variable transmission and all-wheel drive is still standard, the performance has been altered. Now, the powertrain outputs 180 horsepower and 178 lbs.-ft of torque instead of the 182 horsepower and 176 lbs.-torque from last year.

Design
Unlike previous years, where the Forester had a wagon-like body, Subaru has now opted for a more traditional SUV frame. With this change, the ground clearance is now 8.7 inches, and new 19-inch alloy wheels are offered, which is a first for the model. This combination and the vehicle's symmetrical all-wheel drive allow the Forester enhanced control when driving in inclement weather or over harsh terrain.
The exterior isn't the only new change, as the cabin, too, has been altered. Now, the mid-tier trims have a leather-wrapped gear selector and heated-and-ventilated front seats. A new panoramic moonroof has been added, plus the cargo area has been expanded to offer 74.4 cubic feet of space when all seats are folded flat.

Technology
Along with a new look, there's also new technology that's accompanying this update. All models will have an updated STARLINK Multimedia system, but only models like the Base will have a dual seven-inch display. Higher trims will offer a larger 11.6-inch touchscreen. Both displays will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. However, only the 11.6-inch screen offers wireless functionality. Additional features include an integrated navigation system and a wireless charging pad.

Safety
The one aspect of the Forester that hasn't changed is its safety features. Still available is the brand's suite of camera-based features called EyeSight. Adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist are all standard. But in models like the Sport or Touring, more advanced features are offered, like blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning, evasive steering assistance, and a driver monitoring system.

Subaru has decided to remove the Wilderness model from the lineup. Now, only five trims are offered, and they include the Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Touring.
