If you live in Northwest Arkansas, whether it be Fayetteville, Bentonville or Rogers — you are part of a very specific culture. Sure, everyone says they’re not like the other guys. But anyone who’s ever visited this beautiful region can tell you that there is something about this place that’s unlike anywhere else in the South… or the country, for that matter. If you can relate to more than half of the items on this list, then we think it’s pretty safe to say you live in historic, funky, artsy, beautiful, bustling NWA.

You might live in Northwest Arkansas if

You’re just as comfortable in the mountains as you are in your own home.

You happy to be different from other Arkansans.

You’ve spent many hot summer days in locally-known swimming holes.

You’re proud to identify as a Razorback.

You cringe when someone spells the word “Dickson” with an X. Dixon

You always ask about the craft beers on tap.

You have a love/hate relationship with Bikes, Blues & BBQ — but unless you’re attending the event, it usually leans a little more toward hate.

You know there’s only one lake to go to for a weekend of boating and relaxing, and that’s Beaver Lake.

Walmart means something different to you than it does to most people.

You know at least three people who work or have worked for Tyson.

There’s no doubt in your mind that your town’s farmer’s market is the best one in the country.

You never run out of places to go antiquing.

Your favorite part about Rogers is the Walmart AMP.

In your mind, supporting the local music scene is a no-brainer.

You love festivals, and not just the musical kind — you’ve attended festivals for everything from arts and crafts, to grapes, to flowers, to dogs, to local beer and wine.

You at least make an appearance at the Roots festival every year.

You’re a dog person. (But that doesn’t mean you don’t love cats.)

You might have spotted a celebrity at Crystal Bridges that one time.

You’ve met more people from Texas than anywhere else in the United States.

You can spot a newcomer from a mile a way based on how they call those hogs. (There is a correct way to do it.)

When the weather is nice, your first thought is to go bike the trails.

You have actually stepped foot in a library somewhat recently… but then again, the Fayetteville Public Library is so much more than that.

You know the difference between Fayetteville, Springdale, Tontitown and Johnson (obviously).

In fact, you know exactly where Fayetteville ends and Springdale begins.

You have a Fayettechill shirt in every Comfort Color.

You know that the Clinton House Museum is not the same thing as the Clinton Library.

You own at least one Nalgene (and it’s covered in stickers).

You know all the best hammocking spots.

You’ve seen some pretty amazing shows at George’s.

You’ve gotten lost driving to the top of Mt. Sequoyah, even though you definitely should have remembered how to get there.

You don’t know how you’d survive without your Onyx.

You know exactly what we’re referring to when we say “Onyx”.

You own a pair of Chacos that have molded to the shape of your feet.

When you want to treat yourself, you get your squad to go for drinks at 21c.

Somebody has a picture on their phone of you posing with a large green penguin.

When things get a little dull, you go to Eureka Springs for a healthy dose of weird.

To you, Little Rock is “the city”.

You consider yourself to be a food truck connoisseur.

You’ve gone to the Cherokee casino in Siloam Springs just for the buffet.

Any time the traffic is bad, you immediately check to see if it’s a game day.

You still hold your breath when you go through the Bobby Hopper tunnel.

You’re more likely to buy a hand-crafted wooden table than a mass-produced one.

You value diversity, and you’re accepting of just about everyone.

You drive a Subaru.

If you want to make the most out of living in this incredible place, you have to experience it in a Subaru. Northwest Arkansas folks love Subarus because they’re the best vehicles for outdoor adventures, off-road exploring, car camping, weekend lake trips… it’s like these cars were made just for us. Plus, Subaru is an eco-friendly brand that loves doggos, just like we do. It was meant to be!
