You’ve boxed up all the Christmas decorations. All the presents have been unwrapped. All the toasts and resolutions have been made for the new year. Whew, the holiday season is over.

Many of us here at Adventure Subaru find ourselves scratching our heads and asking “What now?” There are still a couple months of cold left, so we decided to put together a short list of ideas to help you celebrate winter in Arkansas. We also added a few tips to make sure your Subaru enjoys the winter weather as much as you do! Check out our list below.

The Unexpected Art Tour

Location: Downtown Fort Smith, Arkansas

The Unexpected is an ongoing project in Fort Smith meant to revitalize the downtown area through creating beautiful art murals and installations with the help of world-renowned street artists. Started in 2015, the number of beautiful sculptures, unique art murals, and installations has grown throughout the entire downtown area. Most of them can be seen without getting out of your Subaru, so you can stay warm while enjoying an oversized art gallery of sorts. Cool. To top off the trip, head to The Artistic Bean for an amazing cup of coffee. They roast their beans on site!

Mt. Kessler Mountain Biking

Location: Fayetteville, Arkansas

One of the awesome things about Arkansas winter weather is that you can still participate in outdoor activities year-round (yeah, it will be a little cold). One of those activities is year-round mountain biking. Northwest Arkansas contains a large number of mountain biking opportunities, but one of the classics is Mt. Kessler. Hand-built and maintained by an army of volunteer trail builders, the Ozark Off-Road Cyclists, this classic trail recently got a facelift with a number of new trail options. After your chilly ride, head down to Hammontree’s Grilled Cheese for the best grilled cheese sandwich around.

Ice Skating at The Rink

Location: Bentonville, Arkansas

The season for The Rink runs through January 15th. Head up to Bentonville to experience some outdoor ice skating fun. Just a few bucks gets you a pair of skates and over an hour of skating! After your toes are nice and cold, step into Crepes Paulette on 8th street for warm, yummy goodness.

Now, a few winter tips for your Subaru from your friends at Adventure Subaru in Fayetteville:

- Watch the wipers! Any smearing will decrease visibility and could disable your EyeSight. A good rule of thumb is to change wipers during the winter season.
- Get your battery tested and/or switched out if it’s on its last leg. Batteries die much more easily in winter months.
- Keep an eye on your tire pressure. Make sure to keep your tires at the correct pressure, especially in winter months.
- Check out our blog post on prepping for winter for a full list of tips.
