There have been rumors for a while about a new addition to the Subaru lineup. There have been chirps and murmurs about a bigger vehicle that would replace the poorly received Tribeca. Some thought it would be a revamped Tribeca, while others believed it would be a supersized Outback. Well, the wait and the speculation are nearly over, as Subaru has confirmed that a new 3-row vehicle will be added to the North America lineup.
The new Subaru will be exclusively released in the United States, and will be manufactured at Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. (SIA), Subaru’s zero-landfill plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Production is set for 2018, and the new Subaru is expected to be even bigger than the discontinued seven-passenger Tribeca.
This brand new and bigger Subaru doesn’t have a name yet, or at least the name hasn't yet been released, but according to Automotive News, it won’t be called the Tribeca. It will instead have a name that captures the same outdoorsy and adventurous sentiment as the Outback, the Forester, and the Crosstrek.
So far, all that's been confirmed about the new vehicle is that it will be made in the United States, it will only be available in North America, production starts in 2018, it will seat seven, and it will be bigger than the Tribeca.
Some blamed the name, while others blamed the grill, but whatever the reason for Tribeca's failure, Subaru is hoping that this new vehicle will have better success.
When the new Subaru is released, it will increase the U.S. lineup to nine vehicles, and it will be the fourth Subaru model made at the Indiana plant. SIA currently manufactures the Legacy and the Outback models, and is set to start production on the Impreza sedan and 5-door Impreza next year.
You will definitely be seeing the new Subaru in the Adventure Subaru lot once it's available. Until then, stop by and see what we’ve got!
