Kelley Blue Book has named Subaru as the winner of two Brand Image Awards for 2015. Subaru earned the title of Most Trusted Brand and Best Performance Brand from KBB. This is the first time Subaru has ever won a Brand Image Award, and to win two is quite an accomplishment, especially considering the categories.
Subaru dethroned 2014 winner Honda as the most trusted brand and muscled out 2014 winner MINI as the best performance brand.
When you look at the Subaru line up, it's easy to see why the company took these honors. Every Subaru comes with a minimum of a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It's reported that 96% of Subarus built in the last 12 years are still on the road. Subaru's practically legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive tackles snow, mud, and inclines with ease.
Here’s the Kelley Blue Book's take on Subaru: "Whether you're seeking performance on the track or on the snow, Subaru has you covered. Enthusiast favorites like the WRX, WRX STI and BRZ deliver outstanding performance on everything from race tracks to dirt trails, while mainstream models like the Legacy sedan, Outback wagon and Forester SUV dominate ski towns and snow country from east to west."
In addition to these most recent awards, Kelly Blue Book also handed Subaru the 2015 Best Resale Value Brand and 2015 5-Year Cost to Own awards.
So why is the company suddenly raking in all of these awards? It's not as though Subaru has just started making safe, reliable, high-performance vehicles. That's been the approach for years and years.
Subaru is redefining its reputation here in the U.S. While Subaru owners understand the brand to be synonymous with performance and reliability, the general public associates the brand with quirkiness and leather sandals. However, the recent increase in popularity, and the boatload of KBB awards Subaru has received, are a clear indication that people are starting to see what Subaru is all about.
