Subaru has a great reputation. Everybody knows that Subaru puts safety first, and is second to none when it comes to building vehicles that will keep you and your family safe. In fact, every vehicle model in the lineup comes with a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ rating from the International Institute of Highway Safety. Subaru is also known for Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive that will get you to your destination, no matter the road conditions.
A lesser-known fact is that Subaru has arguably the best rally team on the planet. To call this a little known fact may not be fair. If you keep up with rally racing you are well aware that Subaru is a powerhouse, regularly setting records and taking titles. But because rallying isn't something that everyone follows, or is even aware of, Subaru's safety and AWD capabilities usually overshadow the rally team's achievements.
However, rally is steadily gaining popularity in the United States, and the Subaru rally team has been a big contributor to the rise in popularity. Subaru Rally Team USA was founded in 2001, and has since won 7 titles.
The team competes in the domestic Rally America events as well as the Canadian Rally Championship and has, in the past, participated in the World Rally Championship.
Subaru Rally Team USA is made up of four drivers: David Higgins, Sverre Isachsen, Travis Pastrana, and Bucky Lasek. Higgins and Isachsen are best known for their rallying, but Americans Pastrand and Lasek have other claims to fame.
Pastrana has won multiple gold medals at the X Games for motocross, supercross, and freestyle motocross. In addition to being one the most decorated motocross athletes, Pastrana has competed in NASCAR races and hosts his own TV show, Nitro Circus.
Bucky Lasek is probably best known for his career as a professional skateboarder. He's won a whole slew of gold and silver medals at the X Games for his vert ramp abilities.
