For many of us, summer time means more fun. There's more travel, more trips, more outings, and more recreation in general. But between the cross-country road trips, beachside getaways, week-long camping expeditions, and midday ice cream cone runs, you may end up spending quite a bit on gas for your Subaru. Don’t worry, though, you can still have plenty of fun this summer without spending a fortune on gas.

Maybe the best way to save money on gas is by riding a bicycle. Riding a bike is great exercise, great for the environment, and you will save a ton of money on gas. You can make it to many destinations just as quickly on a bike as in a car, especially when you consider traffic and the time it takes to park. You can't take your family camping on a bicycle, but for trips in town, biking is the way to go!

Car-pooling is another environmentally friendly way to save money on gas. If you're meeting up with friends or family, ride together, and take turns driving.

Combine your errands and activities. Go to the farthest destination first and then work your way back home. This prevents making extra trips and driving unnecessary miles.

Be sure to remove your camping gear out of the back of your Subaru once you get home. Extra weight in a vehicle reduces fuel economy and it's easy to avoid.

When driving in town, windows down. For highway driving use the A/C and keep your windows rolled up.

Hang a right. This isn't always practical, but if it's possible to choose a route that lets you make only, or mostly, right turns on your trip, then do so. This cuts down on the amount of time you have to idle and wait for traffic while making a left turn.

Removing the crossbars from your Subaru when they’re not in use, can help reduce drag and save on gas.

Another good way to make sure you're spending as little as possible on gas is to make sure your Subaru is running right. Schedule a maintenance appointment with Adventure Subaru to keep your Subaru running efficiently.
