Subaru of America sold over 500,000 vehicles in 2014. While this number is nowhere near Honda's nearly 1.4 million vehicle sales, it’s still a record year and the best to date for Subaru in the United States. This is the first time that Subaru has hit the 500,000 mark, a truly incredible accomplishment.
Big sales by other car manufacturers might seem to dwarf Subaru’s accomplishment, but when you put the numbers into perspective, it actually does the opposite. While Subaru made little more than a third as many sales as companies like Honda and Nissan, those companies are giants in vehicle manufacturing. That would be like bottling your own craft soda at home and selling a third as many bottles as Coke or Pepsi. In other words, that's great!
Subaru had originally set the goal of reaching 500,000 in U.S. sales by 2015. The end of 2015. The company has managed to reach its sales goal a full year early, which no matter the size of the company is a big accomplishment!
Subaru sold 187,699 vehicles in the United States back in 2008. Over the course of four years, the number grew to 336,441 vehicles. By the end of 2015, there could be as many as 600,000 Subaru vehicles sold in the U.S. This type of growth usually requires finding a magic lamp or trading livestock for legumes.
2014 was Subaru’s seventh consecutive year of growth, and sales don't seem to be slowing down. Subaru has gone from quirky to coveted in the eyes of the U.S. market, and sales should only continue to climb. While 2014, was a record year, the company predicts that 2015 will be even better.
