Drive Magazine is Subaru's award-winning national publication that focuses on stories, news, and articles that appeal to people who drive a Subaru. While Drive is primarily geared towards Subaru owners, the stories often have a broader appeal. The magazine often features articles on charitable giving, and ways that people can give back to their communities or make a difference in the world. The Adventure Subaru dealership recently received the honor of being featured in Drive!
Every year, Subaru dealerships across the country join in the Share the Love Event. Whenever someone buys or leases a new Subaru during the event, the dealership donates to charity. Each dealership selects a local charity, and most recently, Adventure Subaru selected the Ozark Literacy Council (OLC). Over $10,000 dollars were raised for OLC, and Drive did a write up about it.
The Ozarks Literary Council was established in 1964 (originally called the Fayetteville Company of Compassion). For more than fifty years, OLC and has been working to provide literacy and language services to those who need them. They provide basic adult literacy tutoring as well as ESL classes. Last year, OLC was able to aid almost 300 individuals reach or work towards their goals.
There are many different types of literacy, and OLC strives to educate people specifically to their needs. In addition to language literacy, OLC teaches civic literacy, financial literacy, health literacy, and workforce literacy. While these are all crucial to living in today’s society, their importance is often overlooked.
While it's a great honor to be featured in Subaru's Drive Magazine, it's an even greater honor to help an organization like OLC. Our contribution towards OLC was made possible by everyone who participated in the Share the Love Event. That's what makes the event so great. It's the community helping the community.
