Subaru Canada reported some pretty staggering numbers to start off 2015. Canadian sales for the WRX and WRX STI were up by 91.9% during the month of January! It seems safe to say that Canada loves the 2015 Subaru WRX. But when you think about it, what's not to love?

Both WRX and STI models have dominated the rally circuit in recent years, so there's no question about the power and handling of these vehicles.

The STI boasts an impressive 305 horsepower boxer engine, but the WRX’s 268 horsepower is nothing to sneeze at. But rally racing isn’t just about the speed. The drivers aren't out there on manicured pavement loops. They’re out there racing on dirt, gravel, snow, and mud.

Handling is key in these races, and both the WRX and STI can handle just about any course that you could think up. Boxer engines tend to sit lower in Subaru vehicles, giving them better control and handling. Combine that with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which has each of the individual tires cranking out the exact amount of power as is needed, and you have two vehicles that were made for high performance on rough terrain.

You would think that a car designed to win races would skimp on safety, but that's not the case with the WRX. Sure, the specially equipped rally cars are power-heavy and minimalistic in every other regard, but the WRX and STI that are available for consumer purchase are just as safe as the rest of the vehicles in the Subaru line.

The 2015 Subaru WRX received a rating of good in every category of the IIHS crashworthiness test, which earned it a Top Safety Pick rating.

So the WRX delivers on power, handling, and safety. Add 28 mpg on the highway, and you've got the complete package. Really, what’s not to love?
