If you had three guesses at the most ticketed car in the United States, what would they be? Maybe, a Lamborghini with its devilish speed comes to mind, or a blur of a Porsche tearing down the road. You might even imagine a Hummer with a “move it or lose it” attitude, bulldozing through traffic. All good guesses, but they are all, surprisingly, incorrect. The most ticketed car in the United States is none other than the Subaru WRX.

A recent study found that 33.60 percent of all WRX drivers in the U.S. have received at least one moving traffic violation in the last 3 years. That may or may not come as a surprise to you. Yes, Subaru is known for making safe and reliable vehicles, but the WRX is the bad boy out of the boy band. Not that the WRX isn’t safe -- it passes every safety rating test with flying colors just like every other model in the Subaru line, but the WRX is a perennial favorite on the rally circuit.

Setting just about every record on the planet, the Subaru WRX is an all-wheel drive rocket. So, it’s not entirely surprising that it’s the most ticketed car in the U.S. What is surprising is the other Subaru vehicle that topped the list of most ticketed cars.

Coming in at number 5, is the Subaru Tribeca. 29.7 percent of Tribeca owners have received a ticket in the last 3 years. This one is a little harder to make sense of. It’s not that the Tribeca isn’t capable of being driven irresponsibly fast. They can boast 250+ horsepower. It’s just that the Tribeca doesn’t scream racecar like the WRX does. Unlike the WRX, the Tribeca is a 7-seater, geared towards larger families rather than the rally crowd.

Who really knows why Subaru took the 1 and 5 spot on this list? Maybe it’s just because people get so excited about driving their Subaru!
