Subaru is selling more and more cars every day. Worldwide sales have been growing steadily, but success in the U.S. has lead to staggering numbers in sales. When the fiscal year ended in March, Subaru had brought in $20.8 billion in sales. The United States accounts for around 53% of those sales. Basically, people love Subarus, especially in the U.S. When you think about what a Subaru allows you to do, it starts to make a lot of sense.

The United States is one of the most expansive and geographically diverse countries in the world. Weighing in at 3,794,083 square miles, the U.S. boasts lush forests, sprawling prairies, sunbaked desert, soggy marshes, and everything in between. The number and variety of things to see in the U.S. has inspired generations to take road trips to simply stare at them.

Subaru makes the best vehicles for road trips. All-wheel drive means that Subarus can handle any type of terrain or environment. AWD lets your tires grip ice and snow, climb steep roads, or blast through bogged out passes. Boxer engines cause fewer vibrations, which increases efficiency and longevity. The horizontal design of the boxer engine sets the pistons in opposition naturally counter each other's movements.

If you've ever been on a long stretch of desert highway you know just how important a good, reliable car can be. The last thing you want on a road trip is for your car to break down. If you're near a gas station, or if you have a signal on your phone your day won't be ruined, but there's nothing worse than being high and dry on one of those hundred mile stretches in the Utah high desert. Subarus have long had a reputation for being extremely dependable.

And of course, a good road trip vehicle has to have plenty of room for cargo. The Subaru Outback, Forester, and XV Crosstrek all boast the cargo space wagons are known for, but even the Subaru Legacy has plenty of room for a good road trip.

Sure, we love road trips here in the U.S., but that's not the only reason that over half of the Subarus sold in the world were in the United States. Subaru is also one of the safest cars out there. Subaru is the only vehicle manufacturer with Top Safety Pick honors from IIHS for all models. As impressive as that sounds, what's even more impressive is that Subaru has enjoyed that claim for 5 consecutive years!
