The Subaru Forester is a great choice, but once you've decided on a Forester, you still have to choose which model you’d like to go home with.

The Car Connection recently tackled the question of how to choose among the various models of Subaru Forester. Their conclusion: which model you should choose depends on what you plan on doing with your Forester and what kind of luxuries you want to pay for.

The reviewers like a vehicle that can conquer a lot of jobs, from hauling 50 year old door panels for a friend to dealing with leaky bags of manure should the occasion arise. They note that while some upgrades are well warranted, like the CVT and all-weather package, they’re happy campers with less. “Beyond that, it'd be what most of the Foresters around here are: a practical, hard-working, all-wheel-drive utility vehicle that's just a little sturdier and more capable than the rest.” But that minimalism may not be for you.

To really understand which Forester is right for you, think about what you want in a car. You can have complete control of your window with one push of a button. Does that sound important? For some people, this might seem trivial, but for others dealing with a car full of kids or a challenging commute is stressful enough without having to hold down a button.

On top of accessories that make the Subaru more enjoyable, there are also practical things to consider. Do you need a larger engine? This is especially important to consider if you plan on towing or you have an intense commute and need the power to merge onto the freeway more easily. Consider your daily driving routines, but also think about the kind of vacation you like to take, the weekend chores you'll ask your Subaru to help with, and any other family members who might drive your Forester.
