Sometimes the idea of something is worse than the reality -- or better. Sleeping under the stars sounds like a satisfying part of camping for many people... until they actually try it. Sleeping in a car may be something you associate with an emergency, or a sign of hard times. However, there are plenty of Subaru owners who relish the though of sleeping in their vehicle.
For folks who don’t own a Subaru, we can see where the reluctance comes from. Sleeping in a vehicle that isn’t a Subaru can be downright uncomfortable. It’s either too cramped or you end up sleeping in a semi-upright position like an astronaut. There’s also the incessant urge to fully extend your legs. However, this is futile and you know it’s futile.
Sleeping in a Subaru is a little different. You lay the seats down and voila! More space than you know what to do with. It’s almost cavernous and you wonder if there will be echoes if you shout. Roll out an inflatable mattress, a few sleeping pads, or maybe even a crash pad or two and you’ve got the most luxurious temporary bed ever assembled.
The back of your Subaru is essentially a miniature camper. Or maybe it’s an impenetrable fortress of a tent. Either way it’s perfect for camping. Setting up a tent isn’t a hassle, but why bother when you have a perfectly good shelter on wheels? Plus, you won’t have to worry about those unpredicted rainstorms from the safety of your Subaru. When the weather surprises you, the frame of your vehicle is going to offer more insulation than a couple of thin layers of rip-stop nylon and bug mesh.
The fact that you have a bed with you at all times makes Subaru the perfect road trip vehicle. If you’re tired from a particularly long drive, you have the option of finding a campground or rest stop and catching a few winks in comfort.
Your Subaru might completely change your attitude about sleeping in cars!
