The new 2014 models were recently tested by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) and all of Subaru's vehicles received high marks. The 2014 Legacy, 2014 Outback, and 2014 Forester are all IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus winners and the 2014 Impreza and 2014 Crosstrek XV were IIHS Top Safety Picks.

Top Safety Pick Plus status requires vehicles to pass five tests in addition to the basic crash prevention test: the moderate overlap front, small overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint test. The Impreza and Crosstrek were not included as Top Safety Pick Plus winners because they do not have the EyeSight crash prevention system as an optional feature. However, both vehicles earned the highest ratings possible for their features.
