If you followed along with last season’s Launch Control
episodes following Subaru’s Rally and Rally Cross teams you’ll be happy to know
that it’s back for a second season this year. In addition, Subaru has launched
a new section of the website dedicated to Subaru in the sport of rally driving. We also have some fantastic
news about who will be driving for the Subaru Rally Cross team this year.
Norwegian Sverre Isachsen, “The Viking,” is making the return with skater Bucky Lasek to join up with the newest driver, Travis Pastrana. Vermont SportsCar has been hard at work getting the team cars ready for another season and we’re sure the team is ready to get in and drive them hard this season.
Sverre medalled at last year’s X Games and Bucky was in his first year of driving. We fully expect that Bucky will have learned from experience and do much better this year with his natural driving abilities. Sverre is going to give the leaders in the pack a run for their money when he goes from the Global Rally Championship title. Sverre has won numerous European RallyCross Championships in the past and is a strong contender for this year’s Global competition.
Travis Pastrana isn’t unseasoned when it comes to RallyCross and has participated in numerous races before and podiumed in the past. He’s on par with the rest of the Subaru RallyCross team and will be a strong addition to the team. We’re excited to see how he does out of the gate at the first event later this spring.
We do have a long wait before GRC starts in May so in the
meantime we’ll keep you up to date with off-roading Rally with David Higgins
and Craig Drew as they aim for the podium again this year.
