Kelly’s Blue Book, the authority on car pricing, has declared the top winners smong family cars for 2014. KBB put the cars through the paces, looking at build quality and drivability but also looking into family-friendly features like the ease of installing car seats and special child safety features. They also put entertainment systems and cargo capacity to the test with common day-to-day activities families deal with, like loading up gear for sports.

One strength of the Forester is that you can easily see around the car. While backup cameras are great, KBB says, being able to see all around is important to a family. When children are running around the yard or you’re driving in a school area when children are being picked up at the end of the day and excitement is high, seeing what is around you is a high priority.

Another great strength of the Forester is how easy it is to move car seats around and install them. For a family with children, multiple cars, and a frequent need to rearrange things, this is a high priority. KBB went on to say this about how easy it is to switch car seats: "Child booster seats were so easy to install in the Forester, it's as if Subaru started with a booster and designed out from there."

Storage and cargo in the Forester was also another solid point KBB loved. The KBB testers were surprised how much they could cram into the Forester even with the car full of family members. For families whose active lives include carrying around musical instruments, sports equipment, and camping or scouting gear, the Forester is a strong choice.

The best way to find out if the Forester is right for you is by coming in for a test drive and putting it to the test yourself. Bring the family to Adventure Subaru and try it out!
