RallyCross season is fast approaching and the first
competition is May 18 in Barbados. But before Subaru’s RallyCross team heads to
the tropical paradise, they unveiled their new 2015 RallyCross STI specially
adapted car at the New York Auto Show. Alongside the all-new 2015 Outback, the
2015 RallyCross STI was a treat for the eyes at the auto show and we can’t wait
to see it out on the track in early May.
The RallyCross STI was outfitted in a special livery for the New York Auto Show, featuring Red Bull, this year’s sponsor for the RallyCross Championship, and NBC, the official network affiliate. The RallyCross STI was developed by Vermont Rally, the same performance workshop that produces the championship winning Subaru STI for David Higgin’s championship win last year and his car for this year’s Rally America Championship. Bucky Lasek and Sverre Isachsen are the two primary drivers for Team Subaru at this year’s RallyCross and they will be transitioning to the new 2015 RallyCross STIs in the fall.
You’ll be able to watch this year’s competitions in real-time instead of having to wait for Launch Control’s videos to come out later if you have NBCSN. They’ll also be airing Rally America Championship stages featuring Subaru Rally Team’s David Higgins, Craig Drew, and Travis Pastrana while they’re on the hunt for the top spot. Higgins and Pastrana might also compete in events at RallyCross after the Rally America season is over for the year before RallyCross has finished its season.
Last year, Sverre Isachsen drove particularly well for Team Subaru, leading the team in both podiums and points. Bucky Lasek is a strong contender this year after being named the GRC Sportsman of the Year. We look forward to seeing what Team Subaru can do this year with a more experienced team ready to tackle what the races throw their way.
