If you’re a big fan of the Subaru Tribeca, get ready for
some heartbreak. Subaru has announced they’ll be discontinuing the model after
the 2014 models are shipped out for sale at dealerships around the country.
They expect that all Tribecas will be gone by mid February of 2014.
The Tribeca is a seven-seat SUV, perfect for big families or moms looking for something different from the conventional mini van. With all-wheel drive and Subaru’s award winning safety features, the Tribeca is the perfect choice for active families who have a lot of activities that involve carting people around, like scouting, sports, or other clubs. If you’re the parent who always drives everyone home or on the next camping trip, the Tribeca might be the choice you’re looking for.
Drivers of Tribecas also have more options for things families love, like tons of cargo space, DVD systems for entertaining the kids in the back, a backup camera for safety, and easy to use attachments for car seats. Although the Tribeca is a fantastic car, Subaru just isn’t selling enough of them. Why isn’t the Tribeca selling as well as, say, the Forester or Outback? Few people actually need or want a third row of seats and they are often not the most practical option. Considering that most Subaru owners put a lot of value on practicality, it’s not shocking that the Tribeca isn’t their first choice. After all, most families with third-row vehicles don’t actually use the third-row half the time.
Does that mean it’s the end of the seven-seat SUV? Subaru says it’s going to look into future seven-seat model that better answers the needs of those who want a seven-seat SUV. It might be a while, however, before we see that new SUV on the market. If you’re shopping for an SUV with a third row and have been eyeing a Tribeca, you’ll want to make your decision soon.
