If you've ever wondered what it's like to drive a highly modified performance Subaru through the offroad woods of Arkansas, you need to watch the most recent episode of Subaru's Launch Control. This episode takes us to the 100 Acre Wood Rally in Salem, Missouri, which has very similar terrain to what you'll find in our area, although slightly flatter than the hills of Northwest Arkansas.
The race in the Ozarks brings together world class Rally
drivers and their teams, including one of the top rally racers in the world,
Ken Block. Block is renowned for his performance at the 100 Acre Wood, having
won the last six of the rallies. But this year, David Higgins and the Rally
Subaru team took him on. Find out what happens in the video:
below:
The last time we saw Higgins racing, we saw him crash into a
tree and do some serious damage to the Subaru -- and some say it was poor driving that caused it. This time, it was Ken Block who didn't get ahead because of
overshooting a turn, as well as the number two contender. While some might say
that this gave Higgins a clear shot at the podium, it still takes a good driver
to keep a lead and not crash a car going over 60 miles per hour on a gravel and
dirt road. Add in as much snow as in the 100 Acre Wood and it becomes extremely
challenging.
After these results, Higgins took the lead in the Rally
Championship standings. We'll be back with more action and more episodes of
Subaru Launch Control to find out what happens next and if Higgins and his crew
can hold onto their lead.
