The 2014 Subaru Forester XT beats out the competition among smaller footprint crossovers.

Many crossovers with a smaller footprint sacrifice engine power and make it hard to get on the highway and merge safely into traffic. With a 2.5-liter engine, Subaru's Forester XT dominates in power to get you on the highway safely. In fact, MotorTrend reports that Subaru beats out the next most powerful crossover in class by a whole 0.4 seconds to reach highway speeds and gets up to 7 miles an hour faster in the acceleration time. While that doesn't seem like much, it's the difference between lagging behind and getting safely into traffic.

The Forester XT also has some other great safety features and has much better handling than other crossovers in the same class. Motor Trend's reviewers said that the Forester gives "confidence" in the steering and suspension, meaning if you need to take evasive maneuvers at high speeds you'll be able to respond safely. The 2014 Forester XT has new wheels, tires, and brakes from the previous year's model and better handling in turns so you feel less roll when going through a corner.

Reviews give important information from experts, but we recommend that you come and drive a Forester XT for yourself and see just how great it is. We urge you to take it around corners, try driving it in town, and then try getting on a highway and see how easily you can slip into the flow of traffic compared to other crossovers you're trying out. We think you'll agree with Motor Trend's experts that Subaru gives confidence.
