We all know what harmful effects not wearing a seatbelt can have on us but what about our pets? Their safety should be treated just as we treat our own in the car and they should be buckled up to stay safe. Unfortunately, there are currently no standards for pet travel products like there are for humans. Subaru aims to change this.
One of the biggest problems with pet harnesses and safety
equipment is that it's not held to the same types of rigorous testing and
requirements that seatbelts and child seats are -- it's really up to the manufacturer
to provide quality products for pets.
Subaru is concerned about pet safety and has always been the
choice of pet owners but now there's even more of a reason to love a Subaru.
Subaru has teamed up with the Center for Pet Safety to test pet safety products for pet travel. The Center for Pet Safety's mission is to
"have an enduring, positive impact on the survivability, health, safety and
well-being of companion animals and the consumer through scientific research
and product testing." With that aim, they've started testing some pet travel products.
The results are startling and the testing videos of dummies
gut-wrenching. In all the products they tested, there was a 100% failure rate. Subaru
is committed to helping the Center for Pet Safety develop standards, force
manufactures to make harnesses that stand up to their claims, and keep our pets
safe.
