The weather has started its annual tease of warmer times to come and the promise of yet another wonderful spring, and we're beginning to think about Spring Break Road Trips, if only to cheer us up on cold days.
Every year, thousands of Americans take to the roads for long distance trips in their cars. And thousands every year end up on the side of the road, miles away from help and hours till a tow. While you'll almost never see a Subaru on the side of the road, unless it's parked while its owners are having fun, there are a few steps you should take to get your Subaru road ready for long trips.
- Change the engine oil: When you're planning on racking up the miles, you should make sure you have fresh engine oil before heading out. There's nothing worse than shredding your engine because you neglected to take good care of it.
- Check your fluid levels: If you have a leak, you'll notice the levels are low and it's time to get it repaired. Top off your windshield wiper fluid and make sure you're good to drive through miles and miles of springtime bugs.
- Inflate and check your tires: We've said it before but checking your tires is a must for safety and efficiency. If you've been meaning to get new tires for a while now, do it well before you take a long trip to give you time to adjust to how your new tires drive.
- Have it looked over: Have your mechanic give your Subaru a once over. A professional eye can spot danger long before you end up stranded a mile from the nearest exit on a ruined vacation.
Of course, at Adventure Subaru we can do all of these things in one quick visit, so be sure and call to make an appointment before heading out.
