Subaru is going to top $3.5 million in donations to charities across the country this year with the annual Share the Love event. From now until January 2, 2014, each new Subaru owner will get to choose a charity to receive $250 from Subaru. When you care about corporate responsibility and prefer to buy from companies that impact causes you care about, there isn’t a carmaker better than Subaru. Watch the video below to find out the charities Subaru is sharing the love with this year:

Dealers are also allowed to select a local charity for donations in their area. We’ve chosen the Ozark Literacy Council, a local charity that works to bring literacy to residents in the Northwest Arkansas area.

It's hard to imagine how much more difficult life is for adults who can't read, or who can't read in English. Their options for work and entertainment are limited, and their ability to care for their children can be affected. The Ozark Literacy Council helps people in Northwest Arkansas who need to improve their reading abilities -- and that helps the whole community.

Subaru’s national charities include the National Parks Service, Meals on Wheels, the ASPCA, Make a Wish Foundation, and Teach for America. When you purchase a new Subaru, you can choose one of these charities, or the Ozark Literacy Council, and help make the world a better place with your purchase.

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to buy a new Subaru, there’s no better time than now to buy a Subaru and give back to your community at the same time. With the purchase of a new Subaru, you can make a difference in the lives of your neighbors -- locally and across the country.
