More than 300,000 happy people have gone home with a new Subaru so far this year. The big news right now, though, is the concept vehicle that walked off (or maybe swam off) with the top prize at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show Design Challenge competition: the SHARC (Subaru Highway Automated Response Concept) vehicle.
This year's theme was "Highway Patrol Vehicle 2025...the ultimate 2025 law enforcement patrol vehicle that supports the needs of dynamic urban environments". The designs were judged not just on overall coolness, but also on environmental impact, appropriateness of the technology to the imagined future environment, and the creativity of the solution.
