Performance
Powering the WRX is a turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four-cylinder engine. The engine outputs 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and comes standard with either a standard six-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). And like every other Subaru model, the WRX is equipped with all-wheel drive.
According to the EPA, the WRX's fuel economy depends on whether the model uses a manual or automatic drive. Models with the manual transmission have an estimated 22 miles per gallon combined, while models that use the automatic transmission have an estimated 21 miles per gallon.
Design
The design of the WRX is made to look like other contemporary Subaru models. Unlike other Subarus, the WRX features carbon-fiber-like accents and red contrast stitching. Because the WRX is a sports sedan, it also has a flat-bottomed steering wheel and analog gauges. And with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, the trunk can easily be accessed from inside the vehicle.
Technology
Accompanying the WRX's modern-looking cabin is a suite of technology like a seven-inch touchscreen. This display relies primarily on touch inputs, although it does have some physical controls for the climate system and stereo. While a seven-inch display is standard, all other trims have a vertically oriented 11.6-inch unit. Additionally, drivers can also find features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an 11-speaker Harman-Kardon sound system.
Safety Features
The WRX is available with a variety of driver-assistance technology. But most of these advanced driver-aids are only available on models with the automatic transmission. These features include forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
