If you were asked to describe the type of person who drives a Toyota or a Honda, you probably couldn’t even begin to stereotype that person. "We’ll," you might say, "I imagine that they probably have hair… although it’s possible that they don’t. And I’m assuming that they do things of some sort, and also that they may or may not have interests." There’s really not a specific type associated with those vehicles.
If asked to describe a Subaru owner, on the other hand, it’s possible your description wouldn’t be too far off the mark. You might guess that a Subaru driver has a dog, or enjoys spending time outdoors, or is dedicated to environmental conservation, all of which are pretty good guesses.
Seven out of ten Subaru owners also own a pet, Subaru vehicles are ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, and the Subaru plant in Indiana is one of the most sustainable in North America, if not the world. It's possible that a certain image has been cultivated and associated with Subaru vehicles, but it could also be that certain types of people gravitate towards Subarus because of the characteristics of Subarus..
Either way, the stereotype is in place, but you don't have to fit that stereotype in order to own a Subaru. Here are a few reasons why a Subaru is the right vehicle for anyone:
- They’re safe. Every vehicle in the Subaru lineup has received a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS for the last six years.
- They have tons of cargo space. Everybody needs room to haul stuff around, even if that stuff is just groceries.
- Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD isn’t just for off-roading. If you’re driving in the snow, or in the rain, or just up a steep street, AWD will help make your drive easier.
- Subarus are built to last. The Boxer engine that comes standard in all Subaru vehicles creates less vibration, which increases durability. 96% of Subarus built in the last 12 years are still on the road today.
Those are just a few of the reasons why Subarus are right for anyone. If you have the idea that you have to have a furry four-legged companion, or you have to spend your weekends paddling down a river, or that you have to buy into a certain lifestyle to own a Subaru, you should probably give that up. Subaru makes great vehicles that can suit anybody, regardless of his or her hobbies or interests.
