The only thing safer than driving in a Subaru is not driving at all. Subaru is known for making the safest cars on the market. The designers and engineers are constantly trying to build upon and improve the safety of already incredibly safe vehicles. The recent addition of EyeSight has not only upped the safety of Subaru vehicles, but the level of technology used to achieve that safety. But Subaru won't stop there when it comes to hi-tech safety.

While EyeSight has got you covered from the front, it doesn't really do much to keep you safe from the rear or the sides. That’s where Subaru Rear Technology comes in. Radar sensors in the rear bumper detect obstacles and warn the driver if those obstacles get too close. Rear Technology is basically like having a buddy standing on the sidewalk helping you parallel park, or like having an extra set of eyes in the backseat when you're trying to change lanes on a busy highway.

Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assistance, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are all the features that come with the Rear Technology system. You don't get any surprises with these aptly named features, just useful support.

Blind Spot Detection alerts the driver if there are any cars driving in the vehicle's blind spots. Lights on the side mirrors will flash to let you know when something is occupying one of your blind spots.

Lane Change Assistance works a lot like the Blind Spot Detection feature. The main difference is that Lane Change Assistance works at high speeds. When the driver uses his or her turn signal, an indicator light will flash if another vehicle is in the proximity.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert is great for busy parking lots and kicks in whenever the vehicle is in reverse. Let's say you’re backing out of a parking space between two monstrous SUVs that you can't see around. If a car is driving past on either side, you're alerted with flashing lights, sounds, and an indicator symbol on the Rear-Vision Camera screen.

Subaru Rear Technology is a great new addition to increase the safety of your vehicle, available on the 2015 Legacy and Outback.
