Subaru had another record year in 2014. That pushes the streak to six straight years of record sales in the U.S. market. That’s great, but after six years of increasing sales, the company is probably content, and ready to rest on laurels, right? Well, not quite. In true Subaru fashion, the company is looking to push standards and outdo what's already been done. Subaru plans on increasing sales by another 5% this year. If this goal is met, that will make seven consecutive years of sales growth!

The original goal was to reach annual sales of 600,000 vehicles by the end of 2020.  However, if the 5% sales increase is met by the end of this year, annual sales will reach 540,000, putting that 2020 goal well in sight with five years to go.

Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, the president of Subaru's parent company Fuji Heavy, has said that the Subaru plant in Indiana can expand its annual capacity to 400,000 vehicles, which would be enough to supplement annual sales of 600,000.

There are many reasons for Subaru's recent success. Award-winning safety, unrivaled longevity, and the ability to drive anywhere, have won over plenty of Subaru loyalists over the years, and more so now than ever.

Subaru makes vehicles that are perfect for outdoor adventures - camping, hiking, mountain biking, climbing, fishing, you name it. Pull up to any access or trail head and you’re bound to spot at least one Subaru. For many, outdoor recreation never went out of style, but it's once again entering mainstream popularity. Folks are getting back onto rivers, trekking up mountains, and hiking through woods.

People recognize that Subarus are not only great quality vehicles that will provide safety for years and years, but also that they can take them to all of the outdoor places that they want to go. That’s a dream combination come true! If interest in quality vehicles and love of the outdoors continues through 2015, Subaru should have no problem getting to lucky number seven!
