It somehow seems fitting that a man named Francis Bacon would say, "Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few should be chewed and digested thoroughly." Whatever the book and however you choose to read it, you cannot argue the importance of knowledge and reading.
There are a number of benefits associated with reading including increased verbal abilities, increased intelligence, improved focus, and improved memory. But many people don't need those incentives to read, because reading is also fun and enjoyable. However, some people aren't able to read books, because they do not have easy access to books.
We are lucky to have such a great library in our own hometown. The Fayetteville Public Library provides a free source for books, classes, music, and a number of other resources that help promote and encourage learning in children as well as adults.
But it's not always easy for children or families to make it to the library. Maybe they live too far away, or their parents have to work during the library's hours of operation. Maybe a family makes it to the library only two or three times a year for these reasons. The easier it is for people to access books, the more likely people will be to read them.
That's why Adventure Subaru is sponsoring a Free Little Library! A Free Little Library is essentially a book exchange, where people can donate, borrow, and trade books. These free libraries help promote learning and help build a sense of community.
The car-inspired library will support the Ozark Literacy Council, and will be built using salvaged car parts, staying true to the original library models that were each unique and constructed from recycled materials.
The library will be unveiled August 17th at its permanent location at the Arsaga's Depot trailhead entrance, just off of Dickson Street. You can bring book donations to Adventure Subaru through the month of August to help us stock the library!
