The question of, “which season is best?” often leads to high-intensity debates. You have the summer folks butting heads with the winter crowd, and the spring-ers jeering at the fall-ers. Nearly every season has something that you could complain about. Winter can be too cold, and ice can make roads dangerous. Summer can be too hot, and mosquitoes are just awful. Spring usually silences even the most crotchety bellyacher, but there are a few who can complain about all the spring rain. But, it’s hard to think of anything wrong with fall.
We’re not making the bold claim that fall is the best season, but there’s not really anything you can complain about. When autumn rolls around, you never hear anyone shouting, “Why is it so beautiful outside?!” or, “This weather is too pleasant and I hate it!” Fall has got it figured out.
The temperatures cool down to perfection. It’s a nice intermission from the blazing summer sun and the nose-numbing cold of winter. Fall is when you get to do all of your favorite outdoor activities.
Maybe more important than the prime temperatures is the breathtaking transformation in the trees. We’re lucky enough to be smack-dab in the middle of the Ozarks, which is one of the most beautiful places you could hope to be when fall hits. A drive can be one of the best ways to enjoy the fall foliage.
You might want to choose a destination, or maybe you just want to roam. There are plenty of amazing hiking, climbing, and biking destinations in and around the Ozarks. Not only are the destinations great, but the roads you take to get there are especially lovely during the fall. You can take the pig trail or scenic Highway 7, both of which cut through the purples, reds, and golds of the Ozarks!
