Levorg sounds like something that lives in a hole and only comes out at night, or something that lures unsuspecting travellers into a swamp, but really it's one of Subaru's newest vehicles.

The Subaru Levorg was first produced last year and is only available in Japan. The Levorg was not named after a bayou creature or an extraterrestrial, but is rather a combination of LEgacy, reVOlution, and touRinG.

However, people don't seem to mind the odd name, and the Levorg is actually quite popular in Japan. Subaru's newest vehicle just won the 2014 Good Design Award from the Japan Institute of Design Promotion. That makes it three consecutive years that Subaru has received the Good Design Award from the JDP (the Forester won in 2013, and the Impreza and XV won in 2012).

The Levorg is a cross between a station wagon and a sports car. Think of it as the Outback's plucky younger brother. The fender blisters and hood scoop let you know that the car means business, but there is still plenty of cargo room and the visibility that you would expect in a wagon designed by Subaru.   Like all Subaru vehicles, the Levorg is designed with functionality in mind. It sports a flat boxer engine, which is more efficient and provides for a smoother ride than V engines. It also comes equipped with EyeSight for added safety. On the subject of safety, the 2015 Subaru Levorg receive top safety ratings from the Japan New Car Assessment Program.

The Levorg isn't just another safe wagon from Subaru. This mean little wagon comes in either a 170 or 300 horsepower option, either of which can fly down the road. The Subaru Levorg is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who have little to no patience, who need to be outdoors, immediately.

For now, folks in the states don't have the option to own a Levorg, but if their popularity in Japan is any indicator, we may see them on U.S. roads before too long.
