Travis Pastrana made is triumphant return to Rally America at the 100 Acre Wood rally in Salem, Missouri, a few weeks ago. He worked his way up to second place for a strong start to the season. This year’s 100 Acre Wood rally was certainly an interesting one. Watch the video for a first hand look at the driving conditions.

Travis Pastrana had a dislocated ankle that he held together
with low-tech duct tape to complete the stages but David Higgins and Craig Drew
were right on the tails of Ken Block and his team, their biggest competition,
for the top spot. After the first day, Higgins and Drew trailed Block by only a
slim margin of 20 seconds.
But as luck sometimes has it, they had a major mechanical
malfunction at the 9th stage of the second day’s events and had to
drop out of the race, which opened up the way for Pastrana to make it to the
podium. This ended Higgins and Drew’s 22 podium winning streak with Subaru and
was a hard change. With some really keen driving, Pastrana came out with a
great time and kept up the overall Subaru rally team streak to 23 finishes on
the podium consecutively. But Subaru’s woes with Higgins’s malfunction weren’t
the only upset of the race besides Pastrana’s injury.
Stages 9 and 10 were shut down after an unrelated auto
accident on the route between the two stages. Many competitors couldn’t access
the two stages before the section of the race was shut down and there were
issues at Stage 11, too, which threw some extra obstacles into the mix.
Through it all, we’re proud of the continuing efforts
Subaru’s rally team is making to take home another Rally America title and we
look forward to this year’s Launch Control to find out all the details.
