Subaru is participating in the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race for the seventh year in a row. There've been two wins in that time, and Subaru is hoping to have another with the new Subaru WRX STI NBR Challenge 2014 – a racing car based on the all-new WRX STI.
The Nürburgring is a motorsports complex in Germany, near Cologne, which seats 150,000 people and can accommodate 200 cars and 700 drivers. It's a big deal. The course was first set out in the 1920s, and by the 1970s it was known as "The Green Hell." It has been refigured in recent years to make it safer, but it's still a classic course.
From June 19 through 22, 2014, the Nürburgring 24 Hours will be "The Motorsports Party in the Green Hell." It's the longest race most drivers will ever undertake, requiring 24 straight hours of driving on a challenging course. The object of the race is to complete the largest number of laps in 24 hours.
24 hours plus, actually, since the official end of the race is the first completed lap after the 24 hours are up. Subaru won in 2012 and the new WRX STI was built with this race in mind. It will compete in the SP3T class.
