With the new steering and transmission made for eating up corners, the WRX doesn’t have as much roll as previous models in a corner but instead zips right through without hesitation. The old model, the reviewer writes, “would roll, hunker down, and then power out of a corner” but the new model doesn’t have that issue. Less roll means more stable corners and quicker driving, especially on track days.
The CVT system allows the driver to set different types of driving experiences, from the Sport# to the eco-friendly simulated shift types. If you’re on a weekday run to take the kids school, you can put it into eco-friendly mode to save on gas. On the other hand if you’re on the perfect twisty road that calls for a bit more fun, you can set it to Sport# mode and make your knuckles turn white with excitement.
The biggest difference between the new 2015 WRX and past models is that it is more flexible for daily life and families, not just that the feel of the vehicle is different. Compared to other sedan WRXs of the past that were a teenage boy’s dream, the 2015 WRX can fit into your life, instead of making your life fit into a WRX.
The 2015 WRX is completely different from WRXs of the past and is well worth a test drive.
