Since the all-new 2015 Subaru Legacy was unveiled last week,
Subaru has also announced increased production of the new vehicle
at the Lafayette, Indiana plant. This is good news for all of us since that
means more jobs for American autoworkers, high quality vehicles, and a lower environmental impact for the process required to get the new Legacys to our location in Northwest Arkansas. We’re
excited to offer more American-made Subarus to our customers.
When you buy an American-made Subaru, you’re supporting some important things. First you’re supporting American autoworkers. Subaru is one of the best automakers to work for from the point of view of benefits and pay, but there's more to it than compensation. Workers take pride in their work at Subaru’s Indiana plant because they’re focused on a larger goal: making car manufacturing better.
The Indiana plant is a zero-landfill facility, meaning that nothing that comes in the building goes out in the form of waste. Workers have collaborated together with the administration for the last decade to develop smarter ways to make cars with less environmental impact and that level of respect and communication affects worker satisfaction, too. Where else is a line worker on the same rung for ideas as the president of a plant?
The environmentally friendly attitude doesn't stop there
either. The Indiana plant is on a wildlife preserve that focuses on keeping
wildlife as healthy as possible. Instead of the rust belt, Subaru aims to be
part of a green belt of eco-friendly factories that keep pollutants out of the
surrounding area. On top of that, keeping production close to where the cars
are sold keeps the environmental effects of transporting the cars to dealerships and buyers as low as possible.
When you buy an American-made Legacy you’re supporting these practices. We're proud to sell vehicles that make a difference in communities close to home.
