People who drive Subarus can be pretty adventurous, strapping on kayaks, skis, or bikes (or all three) onto their Subarus and relying on Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive to get them to whatever adventure they’re seeking safely. Pete Zimowsky found out that Subarus aren’t just for getting you there safely—they’re also great for keeping you and your family safe when things go wrong.

He and his wife were out in the woods when Zimowsky’s dog accidentally got into a yellow jacket nest. Yellow jackets are aggressive, predatory wasps, and they don't take kindly to invaders. They don't stop at just stinging and running off an unwelcome guest. Yellow jackets leave scent markers on their target so other yellow jackets in their group can swarm and kill the attacker. Unfortunately, this attacker, according to the yellow jackets, was Zimowsky’s dog. The wasps chased the poor dog -- and the Zimowskys.

They ran through the woods and down the hill, jumped into their Subaru and buzzed away from danger. But the golden retriever was gnawing on her tail, trying to get at what was hurting, so they decided to find a watering hole for their pup to relieve some of the pain of her stings.

They didn't have to worry about having a wet dog in the car, any more than they had to worry about having to hightail it out of the woods. Their Subaru was up to the challenge. Subarus are a dog’s best friend, and in this case, we think the golden retriever couldn’t be happier her owners bought a Subaru.
