In just a few weeks, Subaru is going to unveil some new
concepts at the Tokyo Motor Show. Starting November 22, get ready for more
anticipation about the direction Subaru is headed. Already, Subaru has
announced they will be revealing a new touring car concept called the Levorg, a
combination of “legacy,” “revolution,” and “touring.” The teaser pictures,
which are slim outlines of what the concept car looks like, show a svelte but
muscular looking car, which has viewers speculating wildly about the eventual product.
We’re betting that the Levorg might be the concept car for a new replacement for the Outback but who knows? Its final form might not even be available on the American market. The Outback is due for an update soon so we’re hoping that the concept design looks fantastic and has new innovative features to help the new Outback redesign shine in the future.
Two other concept cars will also make their debut at the Tokyo Motor Show: the Cross Sport Design Concept and the Crossover 7 Concept. The Cross Sport Design Concept is suspected to be the replacement for the Tribeca but we’re betting that the Crossover 7 Concept, which supposedly sports a third row of seats, will be the new Tribeca once in production model form.
The Viziv will be at the Tokyo Motor Show as well but in a new version this time, further refining the work that’s been done on the concept car. Concept cars aren’t actually cars you’ll ever see driving around on the road. Instead, they’re design concepts -- ideas of how a new car might look. We’ve seen things like recycled paper dashboards, hand sewn seats, and even new technologies for safety you can’t even imagine working in the real world on concept cars from different manufacturers. Instead of being rooted in what they can actually make and sell, concept cars are about defining the brand and what direction the manufacturer is going in.
Check back after the unveiling of the new concept cars for a rundown on what we expect Subaru will be doing next.
