On Monday, Subaru’s Indiana plant stopped operations to clean up damage done by storms that ravaged the area. The plant suffered roof damage, broken glass, blown debris, and water damage. Part of the roof even collapsed onto a few finished Subarus that will now have to be recycled. Fortunately, the damage is in mostly non-essential areas and Subaru’s plant has done a good job of making sure conditions are safe for workers. Many of the trees in the green area outside of the plant were damaged in the high winds.

Subaru will recover quickly and get back up to speed on manufacturing. Many families and communities affected by the storms, however, need our help to rebuild.

As we prepare for Thanksgiving, the events in Indiana are a reminder of how quickly we can lose everything. Please keep the families affected in Indiana in your thoughts. If you’d like to send help their way, you can send donations to get supplies and food to those affected by the storms.

Here in Northwest Arkansas, we also see tornadoes and we need to be prepared. If you live in Fayetteville, we recommend that you sign up for the City of Fayetteville’s Emergency Alert System. This system sends out emails and text messages to registered users to alert them of emergency situations in the City of Fayetteville and surrounding areas, such as tornadoes, earthquakes, and floods.

At Subaru, we believe that taking precautions to be safe is a priority and that’s why we spend so much time and effort on making our vehicles as safe as possible.
