Subaru has set its sights on producing more cars here in America to meet the increasing demand for Subarus. The Impreza is Subaru's third most popular car, only behind the Outback and the Forester, and has previously only been manufactured in Japan. But Subaru, despite being based in Japan, wants to bring manufacturing to the United States where they'll be able to build 100,000 Imprezas every year. They already make 200,000 vehicles a year at the Indiana plant, including the Outback, Legacy, and Tribeca.
Last year, Subaru sold 358,000 cars in the United States, meaning that with increased demand as well as increased production Stateside, most of the Subarus sold in the United States are manufactured here. With this expansion, Subaru will create 900 more jobs in the United States and the purchase of a new Subaru made here will help keep those Americans employed.
People who think of Subaru as a foreign car aren't fully aware of the whole truth behind how Subarus are made. Most of the Subaru line is made right here in the United States and in 2016, the Legacy will complete the Subaru American-made line.
Buying a car made in the US can be a lot cheaper and more reliable than buying an import. Between shipping costs and import taxes that are passed on to the person who buys the car, you can save money and buy a high quality car in the United States.
