Even when you want a Subaru and nothing else, there are still big decisions to make. Our two newest models, the Forester and the Crosstrek, are both great options but have different benefits and features. They're both great cars, so how can you choose between the two?

A review comparing the two from The CarConnection is a great starting point. The Car Connection reviewers took a Forester across South Africa and compared it to driving a Crosstrek in Hawaii on a test drive six-months previously. Both took on some rough terrain to try out the cars' off-roading capabilities as well as on-road driving experience. In the end, they came to a conclusion:
  • If you need a small car with off-roading prowess, go with a Crosstrek.
  • If you need more interior space and want a more solid feeling interior, go with the Forester.
The Crosstrek is ahead of the Forester on sales, probably because the Crosstrek feels more like a traditional Subaru than a Forester. However, for a larger family a Forester is probably the better option. It's roomier for carting around toys, sports gear, groceries, and the family dog.

The Crosstrek has a more robust feel than the Forester because it's smaller. Compared with the Forester, it still has great ground clearance for off-roading or wintery terrain, which makes it perfect for those looking for a vehicle they can use to get down unpaved roads here in Northwest Arkansas.  Rain, sleet, ice, or snow, a Crosstrek is suited to getting you to where you want to go just as well as a Forester but gets you better gas mileage because of the size difference.

While you can spend hours researching the difference between the two models, test-driving the cars is the ultimate decision making move. Come see us to try out both models and see which you prefer -- or, if you're a two-car family, pick one of each.
