How is a Forester like an ostrich? Autoblog reviewers recently trekked to South Africa for a Forester safari. Their sightseeing lead to some inventive comparisons of the new 2013 Forester to the tall birds of the grasslands that take over their review.
The review starts out with a comparison of the unique styling of the Forester with that of the ostrich and progresses to performance, concluding that the Subaru Forester is a great car for off-roading in comfort with plenty of headroom for those ostrich feathered hats for which South African ostriches were originally bred.
The reviewer writes "The Forester never missed a beat, providing plenty of surefootedness when the going got tough," of the SUV's ability to take on the challenges of rough roads and off-roading. It's due to the low center of gravity that allows the Forester to ride higher and faster than other SUVs, he writes. Like the ostrich, which has solid instead of hollow leg bones, the Forester is designed with center of gravity and mass centralization in mind.
But the reviewer's love for the Forester doesn't end there. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine "makes the Forester more fun to drive than most of its rivals in the crossover kingdom," our ostrich-observing reviewer writes. And because of the best CVT system around, he also notes, the Subaru Forester is well equipped to take on the challenges of everyday driving demands as well as a safari tour in the South African countryside.
Although we can't take you on a South African safari, you can come in and test-drive a 2013 Subaru Forester for yourself and see why it has ostrich like features that make it the best SUV. If you're feeling really adventurous, you can always take it a new Subaru to Gentry here in Northwest Arkansas to the drive-thru safari!
