As they say, the second you drive your car off the dealer's lot, it's worth less. But one of the many benefits of buying a Subaru is that you can be assured of the trade-in value should you decide to purchase a newer model Subaru years down the line. By participating in the Guaranteed Trade-In Program (GTP), you know when you buy your Subaru how much you can expect to use towards your next Subaru. We believe in the quality of our vehicles and always give fair trade-in amounts for older Subarus.

When you buy your Subaru you plan on taking good care of it. As long as you perform routine maintenance, like oil changes or replacing the tires when they're worn, you'll likely qualify for the Guaranteed Trade-In Value. For instance, say you have a Subaru that you bought new in 2005 and you're in need of a new Subaru. If your Subaru has under 90,000 miles, the maximum allowance for the GTP this month, and the only work you've had done on your vehicle is routine maintenance, you'll qualify for the GTP value.  If you've taken good care of your Subaru, we think you should be rewarded with the appropriate trade-in value. And don't worry if you've driven over the limit, we simply adjust the value according to mileage. The mileage limits are updated monthly and you can check your current GTP value with this tool. How GTP works is Subaru of America has a standing monthly offer for vehicles of certain years and mileages that meet the conditions required. Subaru of America can generally offer a better trade-in value for your car versus an individual dealership so it's like getting the best price out of all of the Subaru dealerships nationwide. Because of this, Subaru has restrictions on what they'll accept for vehicles.

For instance, if your vehicle was bought in another country, it can't be accepted as part of the GTP program because there are differences in production between countries. If your vehicle was subject to flood damage or received a salvage title, it also won't qualify for the GTP because the value of the vehicle isn't assured the way the value of well-care for Subaru is assured. Subarus can handle a whole lot and keep running but it's difficult to put a guaranteed trade-in price on cars that might not be able to pass inspections in other states or receive special titles and registrations from the registrar.

When you're looking for a new car you don't always think about future trade in value, but you should. Before you make your decision, come talk to us about what you can expect to receive for a new vehicle years down the road. We're familiar with what the GTP has offered in the past and can help you plan for the future.
