Subaru got a lot of people excited a couple of weeks ago about a new Turbo-Diesel BRZ. But some people forgot it was April Fool's Day!  But don't worry, while there aren't any new developments on the horizon right now for the BRZ, you can count on Subaru to keep you safe from real danger, just not practical jokes

The BRZ is outfitted with ring-shaped reinforcement frames that are designed to strengthen the doors, pillars, and floor. It's made using high-tensile strength steel that absorbs impact and keep it from getting to occupants during a collision. In fact, the Insurance Institute for HighwaySafety, the toughest rating system for collisions out there, rated the BRZ "good, the highest rating, in all the categories tested. IIHS tested for moderate overlap crashes, side-impact crashes, rear crashes, and for roll-over crashes with a roof strength test. The BRZ, unlike many sports cars, did very well in all of these tests and kept the occupants as safe as possible. It even received a "good" rating in rear crashes, where many other vehicles fail.

Part of being safe, though, is avoiding crashes in the first place. The BRZ's design allows for a high level of visibility. Instead of having to ask other passengers to help with difficult sight lines, the BRZ avoids that trap all together and gives the driver unparalleled visibility completely unseen in other sports cars. You'll also never have to worry about having full command of the BRZ because it's outfitted with braking, steering and even a yaw sensor to help you keep yourself safe on the road.

If anything should ever go wrong, you can rest assured that the BRZ is outfitted with airbags that work in conjunction to your seatbelt to keep you safe.  The BRZ comes with SRS airbags, front-side and curtain airbags as standard equipment. The BRZ also comes with a knee airbag, a protection mostly only found on luxury vehicles, to protect you from life-long disabilities that can happen when you lower extremities aren't protected.

Subaru wants you to be able to push the BRZ to the limits safely and that no matter what happens, you walk away as unharmed as possible.
