Fall! Crisp, cold air! Beautiful leaves gradually giving way to the more austere beauty of winter. Over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house we go!
You might have seen this great picture at our Facebook page. It's a perfect taste of the beauty of autumn in Adventure Subaru country, and Subaru drivers can take off anywhere to get great shots like this.

Basically, everything about a November drive is wonderful. Except when it's not. Here's what to be careful about in the fall:
  • Icy bridges often don't look icy, and the road coming up to the bridge may not be icy at all, since the road holds heat longer than a bridge or overpass with no ground beneath it. Slow down a bit till you know whether there's ice or not.
  • Statistically speaking, fog is the most dangerous of driving conditions. When you're on twisting roads, you can find yourself in a patch of fog without warning, and visibility can go to almost nothing. Use low beams to reduce glare, and look down at the yellow line on the road if you can't see ahead at all.
  • Clumps of wet fallen leaves or puddles from rain can create slippery roads without any ice at all. Usually you're looking at a moment or two when your tire slips; don't overreact and you'll be back on solid ground quickly.
  • Deer are common on some of our roadways, especially at dusk and dawn. If you see one, there are likely to be others, so be watchful and slow down in wooded areas.
  • Have your Subaru serviced now so whenever winter hits you'll be ready.
Subaru all-wheel drive cars are safe and reliable in all seasons, and you can count on top performance in any weather. Get out and enjoy yourself!
